Wellbeing at Gamesley Primary School

At Gamesley, we are committed to supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community: children, families and staff.  We believe that children can only thrive and achieve their full potential when they feel happy and secure.

We have a supportive and caring ethos and value every individual and the contribution they make to our school community. Through our comprehensive Personal and Social Education Curriculum we endeavour to equip our children with the skills the need to manage times of change and stress and aim to ensure that they are supported and can access help when they need it.

Our staff regularly complete mental health training to help them spot any signs of distress or need in the children and to offer the right support when needed.

Our full time Pastoral Manager, Tammy Goodwin, works closely with staff, children and their families to ensure that mental health and wellbeing needs are met. Tammy has also developed strong links with many external agencies and is always ready to signpost families to expert help when they need it. Here is a Directory of Support Services that we can help you to access.

In addition, everyone in school  receives regular training in Relational Inclusion to support us in understanding and managing children’s behaviour. While we have very high expectations of all children’s behaviour, we also work hard to support children in managing their emotions, having safe spaces to share their feelings and creating an  environment which proactively supports wellbeing.
