Introduction
As part of Victorious Academies Trust, we follow the Department for Education’s Providing Remote Education: Guidance for Schools, which sets out how schools should maintain the capability to deliver high-quality remote education when pupils cannot attend in person.
Remote education is used only as a short-term, last-resort measure when face-to-face education is not possible or would contradict government guidance.
When Remote Education Will Be Provided
We may provide remote education when:
- School leaders determine that it is not safe to open, or opening would contradict local or national guidance.
- In limited circumstances, a pupil is temporarily unable to attend school but is well enough to continue their education remotely.
We will provide remote education as soon as reasonably practicable, with provision appropriate to the pupil’s age, circumstances and expected duration of absence.
Our Approach to Remote Education
Our remote education will provide meaningful and ambitious learning that supports pupils to continue making progress.
A range of approaches may be used, including:
- live or recorded teaching
- pre-prepared lessons
- independent learning activities
- digital or paper-based resources
Appropriate adaptations and support will be provided for pupils with SEND or additional needs to help them access remote education.
Safeguarding and Support
Safeguarding remains a priority during remote education. We use appropriate platforms and resources and maintain our usual safeguarding procedures.
Parents and carers should contact the school if their child experiences any barriers to accessing remote education, including difficulties with technology, resources or wellbeing.
Attendance
Pupils who are absent from school and receiving remote education will still be recorded as absent in the attendance register, using the appropriate attendance code.
