What is Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Primary schools receive £1,345 for each child registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
Schools also receive £2,345 for each looked-after pupil who has been looked after for 1 day or more, was adopted from care on or after 30 December 2005, or left care under a special guardianship order or a residence order.
The EYPP (early Years Pupil Premium) is a premium of £353 per year, available to the childcare provider your child attends for their Free Entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds. The premium will be used by our Nursery School to improve the learning experiences which benefit the development of your child.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.
At Gamesley Primary School and Gamesley Early Excellence Centre:
We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all our children.
We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed
In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.
We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.
• Pupil Premium funding is allocated following a needs analysis which identifies priority classes, groups or individuals. Not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time.
